Lucas, an aspiring dancer and choreographer, has become haunted by recurring dreams and visions of a beautiful Dancer after the sudden, tragic death of his mother due to a drug overdose. Convinced that the only way forward is to recreate the enchanting ballet of his dreams but torn between the complexities of real life and the musical, magical fantasies of his imagination, Lucas’ determination to make fantasy into reality affects the lives of everyone around him as friends and family alike discover what it truly means to be “Living the Dream.”
Living The Dream
Jolting awake from yet another dream of a beautiful Dancer dressed in white, choreographer Lucas rushes to a meeting with his stepbrother Charlie and wealthy eccentric Elizabeth DeWitt to discuss his artistic future and whether or not her family is going to evict him from their property. Just as he is sitting down to talk, he sees another vision of the Dancer rushing by him and impulsively decides that he needs to get back to working on the dance again.
Shadows and Light
Lucas, alone in his apartment, studies a vision of the Dancer as he tries to recreate her movements and reflects on the legacy his mother, a former dancer, left behind after dying of a drug overdose.
A Dancer's World
Cassandra La Rue has returned to the City, and the star performer and former recipient of the DeWitt fellowship saves the day when she decides on a whim to dance the lead in Lucas' unfinished ballet. Note: there is an extended tango sequence where Cassandra formally agrees to help Lucas that is not included in this recording. (Tango Instrumental cut for demo purposes)
